A 3D globe, not a flat map
Sports Map Daily uses a real 3D globe rendered with WebGL — the same technology used by Google Earth. You can spin it in any direction, zoom in to street level or zoom out to see the whole planet at once. The globe shows real satellite imagery of the Earth's surface, so you can recognise coastlines, mountain ranges and cities as you explore.
Playing on a 3D globe is fundamentally different from playing on a flat map. The planet's true distances and proportions are visible — which makes the location-guessing challenge more realistic and more rewarding.
Five sport editions on the globe
- Cricket globe game — Pin cricket grounds from England to Australia, India to the Caribbean.
- Football globe game — Place football stadiums from every major league and World Cup.
- Tennis globe game — Find tennis courts and tournament venues across the globe.
- Badminton globe game — Locate badminton arenas from Asia to Europe.
- WWE globe game — Pin WWE event venues across North America and beyond.
How the globe game scores your guess
When you tap the globe, your pin is placed at that exact coordinate. The game calculates the straight-line distance (in miles or kilometres) between your pin and the real venue. The closer you are:
- 0 miles off → 100 points (perfect)
- Inside the correct country or region → 100 points
- A few hundred miles off → 60–80 points
- Thousands of miles off → 1–20 points
- Wrong continent → 0 points
The five questions in a round are weighted 1×, 1.5×, 2×, 2.5× and 3×, so a perfect round scores 1,000 points. Later questions are worth more, so you can always recover.
